A Steinway Model D concert grand piano in a rosewood case
This piano was built around 1920 and was originally retained by Steinway for concert and artist use (piano still bears the shorter concert bank serial number rather than the usual longer Steinway serial number)
The piano was then fully restored by Steinway themselves in the late 1960s and sold to a private collector, who owned the piano until now (the name and address on the original invoice is the same residence we collected the piano from). This piano was part of a collection of at least 6 pianos and organs in the same house, and it hasn't had much use since restoration
Soundboard is original and in good condition with no cracks or past repairs. Tuning pins are tight and strings are in good condition throughout. Rich tone through all registers. Hammers, shanks and rollers dated 2015. Key bushings have no play and original material keytops are in perfect condition. Rosewood case has been repolished in the past and is still in excellent condition with only minor patina from age. The paintwork on the iron frame has some crazing from age but this is purely cosmetic
Superb tone as one would expect from a 'golden era' Model D Steinway
